Day Two - Thursday 14th July

We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Comfort Inn, which is attached to the grounds of the Port Arthur Historic site. After breakfast it was time to spend our day exploring Port Arthur in daylight. We started with the organized tour, then went on the Marana, which was a large Catamaran which motored around the harbour and we saw the Isle of the Dead and Point Pauer. We then walked around various historical buildings. We particularly liked the commandants building, the junior medical officer's house (full of Tassie Blackwood timbers), separate prison and the hospital. Luckily, we were able to walk around while the sun was shining and we would jump into the buildings when it started to the rain. It was really strange as it rained down for about 5 minutes then it fines up, and repeats over and over. After leaving Port Arthur, we stopped at the Dunalley hotel for a scrumptious home cooked pub meal. We were then on the road again, and our next stop was the country town of Oatlands. We stopped to look at the Carrington Mill and purchase the Skullduggery Heritage game (and some yummy local jams) at the tourist information centre.We then set off and travelled 30 minutes north to the historic township of Ross to stay for the night. Before coming away, we researched and realised that the best place to stay in Ross would be at the Ross Motel. We were not disappointed as the Motel owners were very welcoming and provided us with a beautifully cleaned room, with quality inclusions. The room cost us $140 for the night which included breakfast. Last night we had dinner at the local Man of Ross Hotel and had a simply superb meal. We were able to walk to and from the hotel to our Motel.
