Day One - Wednesday 13th July

The taxi collected us at 5:45 am. It was still dark; the sun had not yet risen! We arrived at Coolangatta airport, proceeded to the baggage drop area where there were no queues, went through security, carrying water, and entered the Gold Coast lounge for breakfast. We had fruit, cereals, juice, poached eggs, hash browns, raisin toast, toast, pancakes and cappuccinos YUM! Our Jetstar A320 left right on time at 8 am and arrived early at Hobart Airport. Nick collected our Hyundai i30 hire car whilst JR and I waited for the bags to be off loaded from the plane. We jumped into our I30 and headed off to Port Arthur. Our first stop was a walk around at the Blowhole, the Tasman Arch and the Devils Kitchen on the Tasman Peninsula via Dootown.














Dootown is a quirky little village where all the houses are named using the letters DOO. Next stop was the Federation Chocolate Factory at Taranna where we sampled many different flavoured chocolates. We also purchased some to munch on. We made it to Port Arthur in the late afternoon, just in time to book into the motel and go to the Port Arthur site for a look around. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Fox and Hounds and then back to the Port Arthur site for the Ghost Tour. Shelly was our guide for the infamous 90 minute ghost tour around the Port Arthur historical site. Even though we didn't see any ghosts, Shelly informed us of many ghostly tales. I took an eerie photo inside the church and it depicts 2 white human shaped apparitions. VERY MYSTERIOUS!!
